Voices like your’s were critical to pushing back against this insidious attempt to criminalize nonviolent boycotts. Because of people like you several key sponsors of the bill had to rethink their support of it.
However, we need to take action yet again and urgently. Tomorrow, AIPAC will be flooding the halls of Congress with 3,000 of its members from all over the country to lobby Congress to pass the Israel Anti-Boycott Act. AIPAC will be trying to convince your representative and senators that their constituents support the criminalization of First Amendment protected speech
That’s why we are joining a national call-in today. Before AIPAC can reach Congress, we need to flood the phone lines. We need you to call your members of Congress right now and tell them to defend the right to boycott!
Call (202) 224-3121 to let Congress know:
“I oppose the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (HR 1697/S 720) because the First Amendment protects the right to engage in political boycotts. The Israel Anti-Boycott Act would impose draconian penalties on core political expression. The Supreme Court, and most recently, a Federal District Court, have upheld our right to boycott. The Israel Anti-Boycott Act is both unjust and unconstitutional.”
We’ve been fighting anti-BDS bills at the federal, state, and local level since the very first one was proposed. We know that grassroots activism can make the difference in defeating these bills.
Please call Congress today.
